The five-person tent Outwell Florida 5 Air is one of the most luxurious models in the extensive range of family tents by the Danish manufacturer. This model features a sturdy inflatable pole structure, which makes setup quick and easy. The Florida 5 Air includes all the extras and innovations you could look for in a camping tent, and the materials it is made from are strong and resistant to all kinds of weather conditions.

Inner design

The Florida 5 Air is a very spacious tunnel tent with a length of 555 cm and a width of 320 cm, divided into three zones – a large sleeping area that can be split into two separate rooms using a zippered divider; a roomy living area; and a second additional vestibule, which can be used as a separate room or as a large veranda if the front door is removed.

The door to the sleeping area and the front door open smoothly and quietly thanks to magnetic closure, so you won’t wake the sleeping children when you step outside for a breath of fresh air at night. If needed, such as during heavy rain or strong wind, you can fully close them with a zipper.

The Florida 5 Air stands out with its modern design that allows excellent ventilation and an open layout, thanks to three windows on the sides and a large front opening. All of these are equipped with mesh mosquito screens, and the windows can be fully closed with zippers. The windows also feature a reflective coating on one side – providing both privacy and peace of mind, while also reducing the amount of sunlight entering the interior.

At the back, a mesh panel is included to ensure optimal airflow throughout the entire space. The tent features two cable entry points – one for the living area and one for the sleeping area – making it easy to charge your electronics or connect a TV, camping air conditioner, cooler boxes, and more.

The sleeping areas are darkened to provide better sleep quality, whether you go to bed early or want to sleep in past sunrise. The mesh ventilation panels also have curtains that can be drawn to create a pleasantly dark atmosphere.

Construction

The five-person Florida 5 Air is a high-end inflatable tent featuring air panels that use the Rigid Air System (a patented technology by Outwell) for quick and easy setup with a pump, either electric or manual. The only pole used in the model is a 19 mm steel pole, which is used to pitch the front canopy above the entrance.

The inflatable structure offers several advantages:

• Quick and easy setup, and very fast packing away;

• Excellent wind resistance, as the tent flexes with strong gusts if properly secured to the ground, avoiding the risk of broken poles that can sometimes occur with traditional pole tents;

• Outwell models use extremely rigid fabrics for the panels and a thick, protective sleeve that shields them from damage or punctures. However, if a panel does get damaged, you can order a replacement from Outwell, and we will handle the replacement for you.

This Outwell model includes three separate inflatable panels, each inflated through hidden valves equipped with a mechanism that prevents air from escaping when you pull the pump away, making inflation easier and more efficient.

The aerodynamic tunnel structure is rated with a wind stability score of 9 – capable of withstanding winds of 75–88 km/h. Additionally, each inflatable panel is equipped with the Outwell Wind Brace System, which uses Velcro attachments at key points to enhance stability in strong winds. Secure anchoring to the ground is further supported by Storm Webbings – special straps designed to increase safety during storms.

Materials

The outer fabric is made of high-quality Outtex 6000 Express RS polyester, weighing 80 g/m². It has a water column rating of 6000 mm, making the tent waterproof even during heavy rain when properly pitched, and provides sun protection with a UPF 30+ rating. This type of polyester minimizes the fabric's weight and bulk thanks to ripstop fibers, which offer an excellent balance of strength and lightness. Additionally, it features a water-repellent coating free of harmful substances (PFC-free), and the seams are taped. The fabric is also fire-retardant—when in contact with a hot object (such as a camping stove or burner), burning does not spread, and the material does not ignite.

The floor is made of Taffeta polyester with a polyurethane coating, making it strong and waterproof, as well as resistant to scratches and tears. It is sewn to the outer fabric to effectively prevent moisture, sand, insects, and other elements from getting inside. The sleeping area is made from a lightweight and breathable mesh material.

Please note that despite the high quality of the fabrics, UV rays can damage your tent with prolonged exposure to sunlight and improper care of the material. To extend the life of your tent, we recommend pitching it in shaded areas whenever possible. If this isn’t feasible, apply a protective treatment regularly that revitalizes the fabric and renews its water-repellent coating and sun protection. If you pitch the tent in areas with high humidity and salt exposure, it’s especially important to care for the fabric more frequently using appropriate treatments.
