At CampingRocks you can find many different options of sleeping bags. We can define two main categories – sleeping bags for camping and these more suitable for trekking and hiking. If we need to point out the main differences, we can say that if we are looking for a sleeping bag for our camping adventure we will focus on comfort and shouldn’t prioritize the weight and volume in packed size, but if we plan to carry the sleeping bag in a backpack during hiking, we will definitely look for something very light and compact. These are the starting points of our selection and once we have chosen the right category, we should consider the following details: temperature comfort, down or synthetic insulation, the size according to our height, left or right zipper, mummy or rectangular shape, single or double sleeping bag. In most cases we associate the rectangular sleeping bags as more suitable for camping holidays, where you reach the destination with your vehicle and do not need to carry the bag on your shoulders. On the other side when we hike with all the bivouac equipment including the sleeping bag, sleeping mat and tent we definitely look for the most lightweight options where mummy shapes and down insulation bags are better as they provide the best weight to packed size ratio. Our advice is always to check if your sleeping bag is warm/cool enough for your destination.
