The Petzl GRIGRI+ belay device is a modern belay device with a locking function, suitable for all climbers (beginners and experienced) - the actions are identical to those when working with a classic belay device: the belayer holds the rope with both hands. Arresting the fall is done by holding the free end with his hand, but GRIGRI+ provides additional security by automatically assisting when it is necessary to stop the rope during a fall, allowing the belayer to focus on maintaining a safe and stable tension on the rope.
The device can be used with any single rope, functioning optimally with ropes with a diameter between 8.9 and 10.5 mm. The belay device passes the rope smoothly and provides exceptional comfort during the climber's descent. The device is equipped with an ergonomic handle that ensures easy and comfortable handling, making it ideal for long climbing sessions.
Petzl’s innovative GRIGRI+ model features a belay mode selector mechanism - a unique feature, which allows the belayer to switch between "Sport Mode" for lead climbing and "Top-Rope Mode" for top-rope climbing. This feature enhances versatility, ensuring the device works perfectly for a variety of climbing situations.
The GRIGRI+ belay also has an anti-panic handle, which helps prevent accidents in high-risk situations. This handle improves the belayer’s ability to stop a fall quickly and effectively. The anti-panic function allows the belayer to pull hard on the handle if necessary, thus stopping the descent of the rope.
