This membrane filter contains numerous hollow fibers shaped like spaghetti, perforated with ultra-fine pores just 0.2 microns in diameter, which is 500 times smaller than a human hair. The LifeStraw water filtration system is based on mechanical purification through microfiltration, which effectively removes chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, sediments, harmful metal particles, bacteria, parasites, and impurities.
