Outwell California Highway Drive-Away Air Awning

The Outwell California Highway Drive-Away Air Awning is an inflatable tent-awning that combines the functionality of a drive-away awning with a freestanding tent. It is equipped with all the safety and comfort systems characteristic of the Danish brand Outwell. The California Highway Drive-Away Air Awning is the most popular model in the Danish manufacturer's Air Cruising collection, and can be quickly and easily attached to the side door of a minibus, van, or campervan. It can also remain free-standing when you decide to take your vehicle on a short trip.

The construction of the California Highway Drive-Away Air Awning tent is extremely sturdy, built with inflatable air tubes that can be inflated very quickly and easily. Thanks to its aerodynamic inflatable structure, the tent can withstand wind gusts of up to 74 km/h.

The Outwell California Highway Drive-Away Air Awning includes a big central entrance that can be kept partially or fully opened/closed, and features panoramic tinted windows with covers and large mosquito nets underneath. On the side, there is a side entrance that also includes a full mosquito net underneath. Opposite this, on the other side, is a large panoramic tinted window with a cover.

To connect the tent to a vehicle, a solid wall with an extension (awning) is provided, which can be kept open/closed or attached to a minibus, van, or campervan with a height between 175 – 200 cm, creating a warm, weather-protected connection between the tent and the vehicle.

The main entrance also includes an additional front canopy, which is formed using the included Duratec fibreglass poles, providing extra protection in rainy conditions.

The main fabric of the California Highway Drive-Away Air Awning is made from Outtex 4000 Select waterproof polyester with a 4,000 mm hydrostatic head, UPF 30+ UV protection, and taped seams, ensuring excellent protection in all weather conditions. The floor is also fully waterproof, made from double-coated polyethylene, and sewn into the main tent fabric, offering complete protection from environmental elements.

The California Highway Drive-Away Air Awning can be used independently as a shelter or tent, or easily and quickly connected to a variety of vehicles such as a minibus, van, or campervan with a roof height between 175 cm and 200 cm and a connection length of 250 cm.

• Several methods can be used to attach the awning to a vehicle:
• Using sewn-in straps at the end of the awning (the simplest and easiest connection method)
• Using Velcro strips, also sewn in at the end of the awning, which can be attached to the roof bars of the vehicle (if it has roof bars)
• Sliding the awning fabric into the vehicle’s roof rail, which many campervan models are equipped with
• Using a magnetic connection system developed by Outwell (sold separately)

A major advantage of this tent-awning model by Outwell is that the structure can be detached from the vehicle, fully closed, and used as a freestanding tent or shelter. Thanks to the Drive Away Ready system, you can easily and quickly disconnect the tent from the vehicle and reconnect it instantly. The result is a tight and weatherproof seal between the vehicle and the California Highway.
