The Outwell Woodcrest Drive-Away Awning is a combination of an awning and a freestanding tent, equipped with all the safety and comfort systems of the Danish brand Outwell. Woodcrest is one of the lightest and most compact drive-away tents and can be quickly and easily attached to the rear or side door of a minibus, van or campervan and left stand-alone when you decide to take the car for a short trip.
The construction of the Woodcrest drive-away awning is extremely strong and lightweight, consisting of an Aluflex system with pre-bent aluminum poles and brackets. This makes the tent quick and easy to pitch, while the dome shape is very stable and can withstand wind gusts of up to 88 km/h.
The Woodcrest tent has two entrances: a frontal one, which you can keep completely open (rolled up door), used as a canopy or completely closed. Opposite it is a second entrance, through which the connection to the vehicle is made. Additionally, windows have been added, which you can keep closed or leave open with mosquito nets to let light and fresh air into the interior without the risk of bugs and mosquitoes entering.
The main fabric of the Woodcrest is made of waterproof recycled polyester Outtex 3000 Select Care with a 3000 mm water column and taped seams, which guarantees you peace of mind even when the weather during your camping holiday is not ideal. The floor is completely waterproof, made of double-sided treated polyethylene and is not sewn to the main fabric, but is installed additionally. This way you can choose whether to use it according to the place where you are camping and clean it very easily when it gets dirty.
The Woodcrest drive-away awning can be easily and quickly connected to diffrent vehicles (minibus, van or campervan) with a ceiling height between 180 cm and 220 cm. It can be installed at the rear door or side door of the car. Some of the following methods can be used to attach the tent to the vehicle:
- Through straps sewn onto the end of the awning (the easiest and simplest way to attach)
- Through Velcro patches sewn onto the end of the awning, which are attached to the vehicle's roof bars
- By threading the awning into the vehicle's roof channel (many campervan models include a rail for this purpose)
- Through a magnetic system developed by Outwell (purchased separately)
A major advantage of this Outwell awning is that the structure can be detached from the vehicle and completely closed and used as a freestanding tent or shelter.
