The Spark series of sleeping bags from the Australian company Sea to Summit covers a wide range of products - from ultralight sleeping bags in huts to expedition bags for winter, each of them designed to be as lightweight and compact as possible. The new Spark series has been improved so you can enjoy an even lighter weight and a construction that distributes heat even more efficiently.
With a comfort temperature of -1°C degrees for men and 4°C for women and an ultralight weight of just 536 grams, Sea to Summit's Spark -1°C model is perfect for all kinds of hiking and camping trips from spring to autumn and moderately cold winter nights.
The Spark -1°C uses the highest grade 850+ Fill Power down, meaning 1 ounce (30 grams) of down will expand to over 850 cubic inches when the bag is removed from the compression casing. A higher swelling power means less down can be used to achieve a similar temperature rating and thus save weight and bulk when packing. The down used is Ultra-Dry Down, meaning it has been further treated with a permanent water-repellent polymer treatment at a microscopic level. This treatment protects the down from external moisture and condensation on the inside of the sack, virtually eliminating the negative effects that moisture has on the down. The down is divided into different cells (vertical panels in the area above the chest), thus preventing heat loss from your body.
The secret to the impressively low weight of this sleeping bag is the combination of premium materials and careful design. Sea to Summit uses a lightweight Japanese brand YKK zipper, a tough 10D synthetic shell and a 7D fabric lining, each element carefully selected to complement the lightness and high performance of the Spark bag.
