The new Magma series by Bergans of Norway consists of multi-functional and thermal insulating jackets designed for hiking and everyday use. These lightweight and comfortable jackets, filled with recycled down, have excellent insulation properties, as well as a wind and water resistant outer material, to ensure protection during the cold winter months. Unlike the Lava series, they feature an even higher performance goose down that has a fill power of 700+ cuin. According to the EN12130 standard for down filling power in cubic inches, a power of 650 + is classified as the highest quality down and is used for filling in expedition travel equipment.
Magma Warm is a technical, men's down jacket, perfect for hiking, mountaineering and everyday use in extremely cold weather. Unlike the other two models in the Magma series, the Warm Down version is designed for extremely low, extreme temperatures when you have to sit in one place.
The Magma Warm Down jacket consists of hand-picked materials, all selected for their performance and sustainability characteristics. The main material, recycled polyamide, is windproof and filled with high quality, fully recycled down (90/10 RE:Down, 700 cuin, 180 g/m²); the material got its water-repellent properties in a PFAS-free treatment. For additional heat protection, for example when carrying a backpack, the Magma Warm Down Jacket has an additional layer of synthetic insulation (PrimaLoft Black insulation Eco) in the shoulder area. Shoulders and other exposed areas such as the neck and armpits are also reinforced with a protective outer fabric. To prevent cold bridges and for maximum heat retention, the jacket is designed as a box chamber construction.
This model Bergans down jacket is great as an outer layer for maximum body warmth. Yet the Magma Warm jacket is very compressible, with one of the pockets also serving as a compression pannier. Elastic cuffs on the sleeves, a two-way zip and side pockets that do not interfere with use with a backpack or seat belt complete the functionality of this Bergans jacket model. For your more personal valuables, you can use a zip pocket on the chest.
